Participation in the Golden-cheeked warbler Recovery Credit System:
During the three-year proof of concept, (2006-2009) only properties
with qualifying habitat in the Central Texas Counties of Bell, Bosque,
Coryell, Hamilton, Lampasas, McLennan are eligible to participate in
the Golden-cheeked warbler Recovery Credit System.
Who administers the Golden-cheeked warbler Recovery Credit System?
The Golden-cheeked warbler Recovery Credit System is administered
by the Texas A&M Institute of Renewable Natural Resources under
contract from the Department of Defense and U.S. Army. Additional
implementation funds are provided by the United States Department
of Agriculture-Natural Resource Conservation Service and the National
Fish & Wildlife Foundation. Field implementation is conducted
through a sub-contract partnership agreement with the Texas Watershed
Management Foundation.
Future Development:
The Golden-cheeked warbler Recovery Credit System proof-of-concept
seeks to demonstrate a working Recovery Credit System that can be
successfully replicated for all threatened and endangered species at
sites around the country.
